This is truly the Christmas song of Christmas songs. Since is was released, it has been on every single Christmas-themed romantic comedy. We all want Mariah Carey to be singing this song to us, and we all want to be Mariah Carey singing it to someone who, no doubt (because we are Mariah fucking Carey), wants us back. Everything Mariah Carey touches turns to gold and glitter and sex and the planet is a better place because she walks on it. Let us all hail her goddess-ness for making a red snowsuit, a puppy, and Santa Claus a fiercely sexy place to be.
Okay, I love this song, in spite of how cloying it is. Someone with better musical knowledge than I can maybe explain why the chord progressions, especially those that that go from "I don't care about the presents..." to "more than you will ever know," make me put my hand to heart and close my eyes.
